Hello everyone,

for this weeks dc our lovely host Tammie has choosen the very spring

appropriate theme "POLLINATORS".

For this theme I've choosen butterflies simply because I think they're

very appealing pollinators. So made this digital collage and I think I

should take this as model for larger painting...?

With my blog and shop name some bees may not be missed

Albert Einstein once said:

"If the bee disappears once from the earth, 

man has to live only four years.  

No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants,  

no more animals, no more man. "

What happens if a natural pollinator is missing can be seen on the

vanilla cultivation. Vanilla came originally from Mexico where 

Hummingbirds and long proboscis insects pollinate the flowers.

As they started to cultivate vanilla plants in Madagaskar and Rèunion

they discovered that they didn't have natural pollinators and as a result

no fruits. As it was not possible to naturalize those pollinators they

pollinate every single flower by hand. These orchid flowers of the

vanilla bloom only for a few hours and have to be pollinated instantly.

This is the reason vanille is the 2nd most expensive "spice" in the world.

So, if we don't want to pollinate in near future all plants by hand

we should consider next time when being annoyed by an insect

or  hysterical and wildly waving hands beat after some bees 

that they're are our friend and very important for us human beings!

Fisch am Freitag und die Sonnenfinsternis - update

Heute ist es wieder soweit, es ist Fisch-am-Freitag-Tag,

hier gibt es mehr davon zu sehen.

Und wie es aussieht, wenn der Fisch am Freitag auf die

Sonnenfinsternis trifft, das seht ihr hier:

Today, it's time again, for  fish-on-Friday day,

Aber grosse Ereignisse werfen ihre Schatten voraus,

denn heute ist der grosse Tag der partiellen Sonnenfinsternis.

Wir hier im Norden kommen mit ca. 80% Abdeckung sehr

gut weg. Wers zappenduster will muß auf die Faroer-Inseln.

But great events cast their shadows before,
because today is the big day of the partial solar eclipse.
We here in the north come with about 80% coverage very
well away. Who likes it completely dark has to go to Faroe Islands.

Uns wurden auch jede Menge Wolken prophezeit ☹, 

aber glücklicherweise ist bisher der Himmel wolkenlos ☺ YEAH!

Und ich habe keine Schutzbrille - wegen der Wolken ☠☹!

Egal, ich freu mich!

the weather was a cloudless dream, as the the eclipse startet:

Und dann kamen fette Wolken aus dem Nichts - sie waren auf einmal da

Then fat clouds came out of nothing - they were just there

bisschen Wolken bei ner Sonnenfinsternis sind ja ganz gut,
wenn man keine Brille hat.
Bisschen und NICHT TOTAL BEWÖLKT, DASS MAN REIN GAR NICHTS MEHR SIEHT!
Wie ich es manchmal hasse, wenn die Meteorolügen recht haben!

A few and NOT TOTALLY CLOUDY, THAT YOU CAN'T SEE A BIT!
How I hate it sometimes when the meteologist are right!

Wie eine Collage entsteht

Wenn ich meine Collagen irgendwo ausstelle, werde ich oft gefragt,

wie ich denn auf diese (total verrückten, abwegigen) Ideen komme?

Tatsächlich kann ich darauf gar keine besonders gute Erklärung

abgeben, denn z.T. habe ich die einfach!

Manchmal sehe ich ein Foto und mir fällt sofort etwas dazu ein, weil

ich darin etwas "sehe", ein anderes mal entwickelt es sich aus dem

Prozeß heraus, wobei ich gern mal den "Zufall als Verbündeten" nehme.

Denn wenn man zu angestrengt versucht sich etwas auszudenken, dann

geht das meistens in die Hose. Meine Erfahrung.

When I exhibit my collages somewhere, I am often asked,
how do I get these  (totally crazy weird) ideas.

 
In fact, I can't give a very good explanation
because sometimes I just have them!

 
Sometimes I see a photo and I notice something immediately  because
I somehow "see" it, another time it develops out of the
process, and I like to have "random as allies" to help me.

Because if you're trying to hard nothing good evolves

out of it. My experience. 

Deshalb hilft es manchmal einen Haufen

von Papierschnipseln und Bildmaterial da zu haben, so daß sich die

Dinge entwickeln. Das geht manchmal ganz schnell und manchmal

dauert es und man muß suchen und probieren, bis man irgendwann

das Gefühl hat, daß es passt.

Therefore a pile of paperscraps and fodder helps to develope a collage.

Sometimes it works really quick and other times it takes time

with trial and error to find the right pieces until it finally works.

hier hatte ich schon mal einen kleinen Einblick über den Anfang gegeben...

 .... und so sieht die fertige Collage jetzt aus.

 ... aber vielleicht ist es auch mal interessant zu sehen, 

wie das Foto vorher eigentlich aussah...

... und was ich sofort sah...

... and what I instantly saw...

... und hier ist dann der Hund wie er auf der Collage zu sehen ist. Den ich mir

nicht ausgedacht, sondern nur hervorgeholt habe, denn er war schon immer da.

... and then here's the dog as it is shown on the collage. Whom

I did not thought up, but only brought out, what was always there.

... und statt einer dunklen Ecke, kommt ein bisschen Leben und Farbe ins Spiel,

gern auch etwas, was da eigentlich überhaupt nichts zu suchen hat...

... and instead of a dark corner, there is a bit more life and color in the play,

likely something which isn't naturally matching...

... ja, und so kann es dann an der Wand aussehen...

Ich hoffe diese kleine Exkursion "the making off..." hat euch gefallen....

Dann schalten sie auch morgen wieder ein, wenn es heißt: Fisch am Freitag

und die Sonnenfinsternis. Denn das ist auch noch eine Möglichkeit, man hat

ein Thema und macht dazu seine Collage.

Wer sich nun fragt, was das mit Fisch zu tun haben soll...

.... ich kann das erklären!

Sofern ein Rochen ein Fisch ist? Ja, tun sie zu den sogenannten

Knorpelfischen. Na, dann! Ist doch alles klar.

Who now asks what has that to do with fish ...
.... I can explain!
Is a stingray a fish? Yes, they are the so-called
cartilaginous fish. Well then everything is clear!

Damit bin ich noch längst nicht fertig und manche Produkte gibt es auch
schon nicht mehr, aber die kann ich auf jeden Fall nachproduzieren,
wenn ihr eins davon vermisst und unbedingt haben möchtet!

So I'm far from  being finished, and some products are also
no longer available, but I can reproduce them in any case,
if you missed one of them and want to have it!

Das Wetter soll am Wochenende ja toll, sonnig und frühlingshaft werden,
da kann man dann nicht nur die Produkte besser fotografieren, sondern
endlich wieder auf den ersten Flohmarkt der Saisaon gehen (lechz)
und das Leben geniessen.
Das wünsche ich euch jedenfalls allen!

The weather on the weekend is supposed to be great, sunny and spring-like,
so its much easier to make good photos of the produkts,
but can go to the first fleamarket of the season again (crave) and enjoy life.
However that what I wish for all of you!
